John's Family Car Care, Inc. is a CRAPPY
COMPANY!

I came to Phoenix with a U-haul truck that I purchased. I decided that instead of selling it I would keep it and use it in my business. On 1/15/2002 I took it to the emissions testing facility where it failed miserably.
I then had my assistant Karen call around to find a (presumably) competent mechanic to get the vehicle to pass emissions. Unfortunately, she found John's...
After spending $588.12 on engine work, when the truck was taken to emissions on 1/16/2002 the hydrocarbons had INCREASED from 560 to 609, more than double the 300 state standard.
After playing around with it some more on 1/17/2002 they had the hydrocarbons down to 520, but the CO reading shot up from 0.13 to 4.51.
On 1/24/2002 they got the CO reading to an acceptable 0.14, but in the process they shot the hydrocarbons back up to 816 - MUCH WORSE than it ever was before.
On 1/24/2002 on a second test they got the hydrocarbons down to 564, (and CO up to 1.20) but still couldn't make it pass.
All the while all this tinkering and testing was going on I needed to use the vehicle and John and Brett (his manager) kept LYING to me about when the truck was going to be done. At a later date I sent John a letter requesting that he get the job finished.
John called me on the phone and our recollections of the conversation differ - I remember him telling me that he would have the truck picked up on the following Monday to have the work completed. He stated in a subsequent conversation that He remembered saying that he would call me. Whether it was "pick up the truck" or "telephone call" it makes no difference - here again John failed to keep his word, LYING TO ME YET AGAIN.
The interesting thing about this story is that I had a mechanic come into my shop the other day and we got to talking and he said it should be no problem to get the truck to pass emissions so I took the truck over to Johnston's Auto at 3445 N. 24th St., Phoenix (602-381-0448) and within 24 hours they had the truck back to me with hydrocarbons reading 190 and CO reading 0.12! all with no parts and 1.5 hours labor! This after john was talking about maybe I should think about a new engine and such...
